Digital Futures
A new subject · Launching September 2026
We are delighted to introduce
Digital Futures, a brand new subject launching across the school in September 2026. Designed for students from Class 3 to Remove, it replaces our previous Computer Science offering with something broader, more relevant, and more connected to the world your children are growing up in.
WHY WE BUILT IT
It is vital that children develop the digital skills they will need throughout their lives, but equally important that they learn how to live in a digital world. How to stay safe, think critically about what they read and watch, manage money in a digital age, and navigate the ethical questions raised by artificial intelligence and new technology. Digital Futures brings both sides together in one coherent, progressive subject
What the subject covers'
Digital & Technical Skills
- Digital Skills - Practical tools students will use throughout their lives: word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, file management, and Microsoft 365.
- Coding - Block coding in Classes 3 to 6 using Discovery Coding, progressing to Python programming in Upper and Remove.
- Futures & Transition - Digital careers awareness, managing a digital footprint ahead of senior school, and thinking about technology and their future.
- Financial Literacy - Spans both sides of the subject. From basic needs and money in Class 3, through budgeting and saving, to digital transactions, scams, tax, and the real cost of living by Remove.
Living in a Digital World
- Online Safety & Wellbeing - Staying safe online, understanding privacy, managing screen time, and knowing their rights, revisited and deepened at every year group.
- Media & Information Literacy - Evaluating sources, spotting misinformation and bias, understanding advertising, and thinking critically about what they read and watch.
- Society & Ethics - Digital footprint, healthy relationships online, AI in society, algorithms and filter bubbles, and the environmental impact of technology.
- Financial Literacy - Spans both sides of the subject. From basic needs and money in Class 3, through budgeting and saving, to digital transactions, scams, tax, and the real cost of living by Remove.
