Cheltenham College Pupils’ Hard Work and Determination Reflected in Excellent Results

Cheltenham College are delighted to announce (pending any review of grades) that 73% of pupils have achieved grades 9-6 (equivalent of A*-B), with approximately a fifth of all grades marked as grade 9.

This is a genuine reflection of pupils’ hard work and willingness to go ‘beyond & above’ to achieve their best. Pupils at Cheltenham are encouraged and supported to take control and manage their own learning. The Head at Cheltenham College, Nicola Huggett expresses: “We encourage our pupils to excel academically and to build a range of exciting interests and talents alongside that too. As a school, we seek to go beyond expectation in our support to enable pupils to achieve their potential and more.”

Across the 21 different subjects offered at GCSE at Cheltenham, 55% of grades were grade 7 or above (equivalent of A*-A). Pupils studied for these qualifications alongside taking part in a wide and diverse co-curriculum including community and charity work that truly ensures each Cheltonian leaves College as a rounded and grounded individual.

“We are delighted to congratulate all our Year 11 pupils for the hard work and determination that they have shown throughout their GCSE courses. They have been rewarded with excellent results and we are very proud of them. Here at the College, it is very much a team effort, and I thank all our hard-working staff, both teachers and support staff, for all they have contributed to the success of our pupils today as well. We are also looking forward to welcoming around 50 new pupils to the College in the Sixth Form. It will be an exciting year ahead.” – Nicola Huggett, The Head at Cheltenham College

The majority of the Fifth Form (Year 11) pupils now look forward to continuing their education in Cheltenham College Sixth Form. The Sixth Form at Cheltenham College is a vibrant community of over 300 boarding and day pupils. With over 30 courses to choose from, ranging from Business Studies and Politics to History of Art and Psychology, there is an ever-developing curriculum, including A Level, BTEC and CTech qualifications. All Sixth Formers also take the EPQ. Throughout their time in Sixth Form, pupils are supported by a dedicated Higher Education and Careers Department, who encourage them to explore all options available to them for life beyond College.
